Thank you to the Society for the invitation to judge, for looking after me so well on the day and for my beautiful gift. It was truly an honour to judge, at breed club level, the breed I have owned and loved for almost 30 years. Thanks to my efficient steward, Sandy Hall, for keeping things running smoothly. Also, a sincere thank you to all the exhibitors who entered under me, I greatly appreciate your support. I had a small but quality entry including 4 Show Champions present, and I very much enjoyed going over and assessing all the dogs.
Yearling Dog (2,0)
1. Jackson’s Mompesson Devonshire 22 month LW&T Up to size, powerful masculine dog. Well muscled and presents a lovely balanced outline. Head of good proportions with plenty of work and correct shaped eyes, although need to darken yet. Deep and square muzzle. Good length of neck into correct front. Deep chest, well ribbed, good bone. Compact tight feet. Strong hindquarters with lovely width of thigh which gave him plenty of drive on the move. Sound mover
with good action but lost a bit of enthusiasm in the challenge. Preferred his overall strength, substance & rear drive over 2
2. Morgans Kennair Dreaming on a Star 20 month L&W Good sized dog of smaller frame than 1 but still with plenty of bone and substance. Appealing head, masculine with eyes starting to darken to the required colour. Balanced angulation front and rear. Adequate chest and well ribbed body. Short strong couplings. Moved steady and sound. In super condition.
Post Graduate Dog (1,0)
1. Morgan’s Kennair Northern Star 4 year old B&W This boy gets better each time I judge him and he is now coming to full maturity. He is of correct size and presents a super outline when stacked. He is moderate all through. Beautiful coat and feathering and in excellent condition with great muscle tone - a real credit to his owners. Masculine head, well proportioned, though a little broad in skull, with plenty of work and dark almond shaped eyes giving kind expression. Deep
chest and well ribbed giving the necessary heart and lung room. A touch straight in stifle. Firm level top line. Moves true with excellent front extension. Best B&W
Limit Dog (1,0)
1. Merry and Wright’s Anacapa Just Jack 4 year old L&W Good proportions and balanced angulation. In glorious coat with long silky feathering. Beautiful head with required fluting and chiselling. Dark almond shaped eyes giving him the kindest of expressions. Good bone, plenty of chest room and ribbing. Compact through body with strong couplings. Good length of leg. Well developed quarters. Would like tighter feet. Unfortunately he wouldn’t show me the movement I am
sure he is capable of, being erratic on the move and playing up his handler. I think he wanted his Mum!
Open Dog (3,0)
What a super class - all quality examples of the breed
1. Jackson’s Sh Ch Mompesson Winchester 3 year old L&W Gives an overall impression of strength and power. No mistaking his gender! Presents an ultra balanced picture standing. He is compact and well muscled, with great bone. Masculine head of correct shape and proportions with plenty of work and the required fluting. He has the melting expression I was looking for. Deep well developed chest, straight front. Excellent spring to his ribs. Well coupled and broad muscular quarters with nice bend of stifle. Short hock to heel and tight cat like well padded feet. He moved correctly with drive and easy ground covering stride. In superb condition with glorious silky coat and feathering. Well handled
and presented. I loved him. I preferred his overall balance and his rear assembly to 2. BD and RBIS
2. Cokell’s Sh Ch Carlyquinn Can’t Wait JW ShCM 5 year old eye catching L&W dog, now at full maturity. Pleasing outline on the stack. He has the most gorgeous head with quality chiselling underneath his dark almond shaped eyes which give a kind expression. Strong reachy neck leading into well laid shoulders. Well developed in chest and body. Strongly coupled.
Muscular quarters. A touch longer in second thigh and hock to heel than 1. Excels on the move with typical reach and drive holding his top line. Well presented. RBD
3. Tracz’s Melverley Desert Strike over Acregate JW ShCM
Special Beginners Dog (1,0)
1. Morgan’s Kennair Dreaming on a Star
Veteran Dog (3,1A)
1. Tracz’s Sh Ch Meadowdale Alabama Slammer at Acregate ShCM 8 year old L&W Stylish well proportioned dog. In lovely condition and belies his 8 years, although just starting to show his age a little bit around his lovely dark melting eyes, he has that kind gentle knowing expression that the veterans get. But wow this boy can still move! He was restricted by the ring size and couldn’t really get into his stride, he just wanted to go! However I could see he has excellent front reach and rear drive. Correct symmetrical angulation front and rear. Well developed in body with plenty of substance all through. A real credit to his owner.
2. Drinkall’s Mompesson Tribute to Esscroft 7 year old LW&T Balanced in outline, well muscled and in super coat and
condition. Shorter coupled than 1 but not quite the substance. Well ribbed, firm level topline, nice tight round feet. Would prefer a slightly more masculine head but well proportioned with desired chiselling and fluting. Dark eyes of correct shape with kind expression. Sound mover but lacking a little enthusiasm.
Puppy Bitch (2,0)
1. Large’s Plaiglen Razzle Dazzle is Madaza 11 month L&W Very feminine bitch. Well developed for her age with a balanced outline. Moderate angulation front and rear, very good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Pretty head although eyes still need to darken a little and I would prefer more strength and width in foreface. Decent length of neck. Well sprung ribs leading back to strong couplings. Nice round bum and strength of thighs. Moved soundly with correct gait once she got into her stride. Preferred her overall shape and size over 2. A promising future I’m sure. BPIS
2.Downward’s Royal Gala at Reubens 11 month old B&W Slightly more compact than 1, although of larger build and up to size for her age. Attractive head with nice dark eyes. Well off for bone and well ribbed with strong couplings. Would like tighter feet. Broad in thigh with good muscle tone. Pleasing rear angulation with nice bend of stifle. Moved rather erratically at first but did eventually settle to show off her powerful reach and drive.
Junior Bitch (2,1A)
1. Conrad’s Peasblossom Rumours at Strathnaver 14 month L&W What a smart little bitch in her gleaming liver coat. Totally feminine but with enough substance and bone. Nicely proportioned and in balance throughout. Sweet head, eyes a little round and need to darken still, she has strength in fore face with the required breadth and depth and is square and deep in flews. Lovely length to neck which was nicely arched. Straight front with enough depth to chest. Well ribbed. Moderate angulation front and rear. Tight cat like feet. Well developed quarters and nice rounded bum. Firm level topline which she held on the move. Moved steadily with reach and drive but was a touch close behind.
Yearling Bitch (1,0)
1. Jackson’s Mompesson My Way 22 month LW&T Well developed for her age Very strong and solid through her body. Presents a very balanced compact outline on the stack. Gorgeous head with correctly shaped eyes, although they still need to darken a touch. Super depth to chest. Well boned legs with super tight well padded feet. Nicely angulated front and rear with good bend of stifle. Moved soundly with plenty of drive from her powerful quarters showing good width behind. Held her top line well on the move. She has some more maturing to do yet but definitely one for the future!
Novice Bitch (3,1A)
1. Conrad’s Peasblossom Rumours at Strathnaver
2. Downward’s Royal Gala at Reubens
Post Gaduate Bitch (2,0)
1. Cokell’s Carlyquinn Mama Mia ShCM 2 year old L&W Feminine bitch Showing happy disposition, with wagging tail on the move. In super sparkling whiter than white coat and lovely condition. Sweetest of heads with plenty of work and dark almond shaped eye giving kind and gentle expression. Well developed chest, spring of rib and nice broad thighs. Wonderfully
rounded quarters giving her plenty of push on the move. Her correctly angulated front gave her the matching swing from the shoulder. Moved happily, sound steady and true in the challenge to take RBB.
2. Rostron’s Ziphill Tenessee Gold 5 year old L&W Pretty bitch who presents a balanced outline. Sweet head of good proportions with dark eye, although a little round. Good chest, ribs, couplings and super broad quarters. Moved soundly but with short strides. Not wearing her best coat today.
Limit Bitch (3,1A)
1. Drinkall’s Calvdale Maleficent of Esscroft 2 year old L&W Well proportioned bitch who was carrying a little too much weight today which was a shame as she is of nice type. Feminine head with kind expression. Well coupled with good bone and feet. She moved ok but without a lot of enthusiasm and didn’t show me the extension and drive I was looking for.
2. Richardson’s Cherishym Celaneo 4 year old L&W Very feminine pretty bitch, with a touch of raciness. Smaller in frame than 1 but well made all through with good muscle tone. Delightful head with dark almond shaped eye and chiselling and fluting. Nice neat tight feet. Unfortunately I could not assess her movement as she would not co-operate with her handler and settle on the move and this cost her the class.
Open Bitch (2,1A)
1. Richardson’s Cherishym Chara 4 year old L&W Same comments apply as for her sister in LB although she has slightly more substance than her sister, which I preferred. Very stylish bitch, well angulated with nice bend of stifle. Strong couplings and she is in good hard muscular condition. Like her sister she would not settle on the move. I thought she would be my RBB but again in the challenge her movement was too erratic which cost her.
Veteran Bitch (3,2)
1. Cunliffe’s Sh Ch IR Sh Ch Calvdale My Girl of Fallenleaf JW ShCM
7 year old LW&T I actually felt quite emotional looking at this bitch as for me she is a stunning example of the breed. I loved her last time I judged her, I just adored her today. Perfectly balanced with excellent ratio of leg length to depth of body. Correct angulation which is moderate and symmetrical front and rear. Ultra feminine with that hint of raciness, yet with substance, she just flows from head to tail. Beautiful head with correct amount of stop and fluting/chiselling. Her expressive eyes have darkened nicely with maturity. Good bone and the neatest compact feet. In glorious coat and
condition with beautiful feathering. She has strength which shows in her movement with the typical swing from the shoulder followed by plenty of drive behind, enabling her to power round the ring. On top of all this she is a showgirl, head held proudly she really looks like she is enjoying herself and I think she knows how special she is. BB, BIS and BVIS
2. Richardson’s Cherishym Bright Star JW 9 year old L&W Pretty bitch of smaller frame than 1. Carrying a little too much weight today but of nice overall proportions Feminine head with kind expression from lovely dark eyes. Good depth to chest and spring of rib. Compact in body. Nice neat feet. Moved OK.
